Captain Lachlan Slatyer was one of my first friends when I was posted to the 5th Aviation Regiment. Originally from the Royal Australian Corps of Transport, he decided to turn his hand to flying and completed some bridging education to get his physics qualifications which is a requirement for flight training. Upon doing that, he undertook flight training graduating as a Black Hawk pilot and posted to 5th Aviation Regiment.
We had the pleasure of flying together on a couple of occassions before I headed off to the US to commence my Chinook training.
Lachlan left the full time Army in order to pursue civilian flying and is now a highly qualfied pilot working in the field of Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.
Good on you, mate.
