The Cavalrymen - East Timor, 2002
Graphite on Paper
297 x 420mm
In 2002 I commanded the 5th Aviation Regiment's detachment to East Timor. Our mission was to provide 24 hour aero-medical support and troop lift to the Australian battalion stationed on the border with Indonesia.
During this time I was unable to do a few drawings including this one showing the crew of an M113 armoured personnel carrier. In the background is the mountain called Foho Leolaco.
The carrier was from 3rd/4th Cavalry Regiment and, as is the custom in armoured corps, armored vehicles are named using the initial all the squadron from where it comes. In this case, Blitzkrieg Bop hales from B Squadron.
